Meet the cuber at African Champs Osman Badroodin!

Meet the cuber at African Champs Osman Badroodin! @osmanbadroodin15 (22) from Centurion, Pretoria.

➡️ How long have you been cubing, and how did you get into cubing?
- I’ve known how to solve a cube since 2018 but I started speedcubing in 2019 , the way I got into cubing was this , I saw an unsolved cube in a crazystore so I bought it and solved it and was instantly hooked

➡️ What is your favourite event and why?
- Its between Sq1 , 5x5 and 3x3 One Handed , Sq1 because its my highest ranked event and the event I have records in , 5x5 because its an event that is longer and very enjoyable to do , and 3x3 One Handed because its similar to normal 3x3 but a bit of an extra challenge and alot more fun

➡️ What do you feel is your biggest cubing achievement so far?
- Probably my Sq1 Records and my 2022 Sq1 African Championships Title

➡️ What would be your bucket list cubing event to go to?
- I would love to go to a world championships , preferably one in Europe

➡️ Describe your first cubing competition
- I was very excited and instantly had good connections with everyone there and I remember being amazed by Ruben’s 44 second 4x4 solve and Taariq’s sq1 solves

➡️ What do you do outside of cubing?
- I love playing 8 Ball Pool and even used to own my own pool table , I also love painting , watching movies and especially hanging out with my best friend Gerald

➡️ Give us an interesting, non cubing related, fact about yourself
- Aside from cubing competitions I also have trophies/medals/podiums in other events such Mathematics , Chess and Engineering competitions

Meet the cuber at African Champs Isaac Scheepers! @isaac_scheepers (16) from Gauteng.

➡️ How long have you been cubing, and how did you get into cubing?
- I have been cubing for almost 4 years now, and started in the middle of lockdown. I learned how to solve a 2x2 that I was always playing around with but never could solve it, eventually it broke and I made a challenge with my parents. If I learned how to solve a 3x3 under 3 minutes I could get a bundle of new cubes. And 2nd try of timing myself I got the cubes and started speedcubing

➡️ What is your favourite event and why?
- I have 3 favourite events and would do any of them anytime. 3x3, 5x5, and then Square-1! I just love doing solves with them

➡️ What do you feel is your biggest cubing achievement so far?
- I have two that I am very proud of and thankful for. Definitely going to Worlds 2023 Korea with my good friend Daniel Rush. 2nd would also be getting my AfR 2 solve for 3x3 single of 6.19.

➡️ What would be your bucket list cubing event to go to?
- Most likely Worlds 2025 in Seattle. A lot of my international friends are planning to go, and I really want to see them again.

➡️ Describe your first cubing competition
- Mine was about 2 years ago now in 2022, it was the first cubing comp in Cape Town since lockdown. And I just loved judging and meeting a lot of cubers. Some really good times for my first comp which I was really happy about!

➡️ What do you do outside of cubing?
- I do a lot of sport, such as Baseball and softball. Im even a “serious” gamer sometimes!

➡️ Give us an interesting, non cubing related, fact about yourself
- Before cubing became my main hobby, I was very into beatboxing and still mostly am! I still try and keep up with the community.

Meet the cuber at African Champs Emmanuel Hawkins! @hesacuber (23) from Nigeria.

➡️ How long have you been cubing, and how did you get into cubing?
- I’ve been cubing for about 8 years now. My first encounter with the cube was back in 2015 when a friend would bring his cube to class. We learnt to solve it then, but then he stopped bringing his cube to school and I forgot all about it. The real obsession however only started a year later when I tried to race someone after not practicing for a year. Obviously I lost, but because of that I saved up for my first cube, started watching YouTube videos to get faster, and that was it.

➡️ What is your favourite event and why?
- The OG 3x3. I only did 3x3 for the first 4-5 years of cubing, so yeah.

➡️ What do you feel is your biggest cubing achievement so far?
- Probably winning the Nigerian Championship in 2022. My cubing YouTube channel as well, if that counts

➡️ What would be your bucket list cubing event to go to?
- Definitely any world champs. That’d be sick

➡️ Describe your first cubing competition
- Lagos open 2022. That was a fun one cos I met many of my cubing friends for the first time IRL. it really felt good to see a bunch of people who enjoy the same thing you do. Also came out with some great results despite it being my first comp

➡️ What do you do outside of cubing?
- I exist :) I also do filmmaking and media. I enjoy playing the piano as well.

➡️ Give us an interesting, non cubing related, fact about yourself
- I can juggle 5 balls
